Travis Kelce Reacts to Taylor Swift Changing Lyrics in “Karma” Song
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce revealed that he had a slight inkling that Taylor Swift would modify the lyrics of her song “Karma” to reference their emerging romance.
The alteration in lyrics, along with Kelce’s enthusiastic reaction, caused a social media frenzy on Saturday night. During her performance at Buenos Aires’ Estadio River Plate, Swift sang, “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs, coming straight home to me,” instead of the original line, “Karma is the guy on the screen, coming straight home to me.”
The stadium erupted in screams and cheers as fans witnessed the lyric change. Cellphone videos posted on social media captured Kelce, 34, grabbing his face, breaking into a wide grin, and dancing to the song. Swift’s father was seen cheerfully clapping his hands.
Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce addressed the moment on an episode of their podcast, “New Heights”.
When asked how it felt to be “the guy on the Chiefs”, Kelce responded, “Yeah, no, had no clue.”
“Well, I might have had a little bit of a clue but definitely when I heard it come out of her mouth, still shocked me. I was like, ‘oh, shh, she really just said that, alright,’” he added.
The Chiefs tight end went on to praise Swift, saying, “Taylor absolutely ripped it, she killed it. And it looked like she was having some fun up there.”
After the show, Swift surprised fans once again when she was caught on camera running into Kelce’s arms and giving him a kiss backstage. Although Kelce and Swift have not officially confirmed their relationship, they have been seen together and Swift has attended multiple Chiefs games.
